I have joined one of the nerdiest, most annoyingly techy groups in existence: mobile bloggers. I'm a bit nauseous just thinking about it, but it will be cool for those of you who enjoy up to the minute Smith news. When she finally decides to come out of her snuggly womb-nest, I can send a picture and description of the baby from my cell phone directly to this blog. Stay tuned for that.
We had a nice, mellow Halloween. We went with Owen around our block trick-or-treating, then gave out candy to 26 visitors at our own house. Owen was in charge of greeting them and handing out candy, of which we have waaay too much left over. He also wrote down how many people came to our door.
He is very interested in numbers these days and can answer questions like, "What's 10 minus 2?" and "8 minus what equals 6?" He also reads large numbers like "three hundred fifty-seven thousand, two hundred and fourty-four" while watching me play poker on the computer. (Unfortunately that is the number of my play chips and not actual currency.) He and Nanny play Scrabble, where he counts up his score by adding all the values for the tiles that make up his "word". Once, after the grown-ups played a game of speed Scrabble, he added up the values of all the words in my entire crossword. It took me several tries, but I finally managed to verify that his count of 47 was correct. Love that smart little guy!
Happy Halloween.
